Devoting time to caring for the teeth of young ones is essential. Brushing children's teeth is sometimes a constant struggle between parents and children. With most children, the routine of brushing teeth is always full of chaos.
Therefore, using an electric toothbrush for children is a good solution. However, using an electric toothbrush will not automatically make them genius in tooth brushing; hence parents should provide guidance and help to the little ones properly brushing their teeth.
Is the Electric Toothbrush Suitable For Children?
Dental professionals introduced an electric toothbrush to facilitate brushing in patients with limited motor skills. Dental experts have explained that a manual toothbrush is very effective with a suitable technique and duration.
However, for children who have difficulty maintaining proper dental hygiene, an electric toothbrush is needed to improve their situation as long as they are guided and instructions are strictly followed.
For a child, it's not that they cannot handle manual brushing, but they are in a stage where their motor skills are developing; therefore, it's essential to teach them and motivate them on how to use an electric brush.
What Characteristics Should a Good Children's Electric Toothbrush Have?
Make sure the brush is rechargeable, not battery-powered. It should have a rotation oscillator and a timer to indicate when the child should brush their teeth. Also, parents should clarify to the child that since the brush moves, they do not have to spend less time brushing their teeth.
In conclusion, the main thing is not the object but the child's learning of the correct brushing technique. We must get rid of the idea of buying an electric toothbrush because the child does not know how to brush with a manual brush since for our children to acquire the habit and achieve good dental hygiene, it is essential to teach and motivate them.
