Do you play games with your child? Most parents do it regularly. However, do you play dental games with your child? If not, then you may want to start. As it turns out, kids learn a lot from games (pretty sure we already knew this from our own kids, nieces, nephews, etc.). They learn to talk about their feelings, act out what is going on in their minds, and learn about new experiences. If we can incorporate going to the dentist in any of their games, we may find out if they are nervous about any aspect of it.
Dental Visits for Kids Should Be Fun Experiences
When it comes to going to the dentist for a child, it should be a fun experience. We always strive to make the entire experience one they will look back on and smile about, and even share with others. The goal is to make them see how friendly we can be, while also seeing how important our job is to their health. By making games with your child, you can introduce the idea of seeing their dentist (us) regularly, and what it is we can do to help them feel better. You can also talk with your children through games to see if there is anything about visits to our office that makes them nervous. Many children get a little nervous about seeing us at some points in time. Thankfully, we are able to work with you and your child to bypass that and get them to where they are no longer afraid. If your child may be even a little bit nervous about coming in for their next appointment, consider making a game out of seeing us that you two can play at home. The more fun you can make it, the less anxiety your child is apt to have when the big day arrives.
