When Is The Best Age To Start Dental Visits?

It is an important question because children need great dental care, so they have a lifetime of good dental health. The shortest answer is that it is really never too early to start bringing your child for dental visits.

Infants

Dentists recommend that you begin bringing your baby to them when their first tooth erupts. Babies don't begin getting their teeth at the same age. Some babies begin to get their teeth between four and six months, while other babies don't get any teeth until after their first birthday. Before your baby begins to get teeth, you can keep their mouth clean by wiping their gums after they eat with a washcloth.

First Birthday

Once your baby turns one, even if he or she doesn't have teeth yet, you'll want to take them to the dentist. That way, the dentist will be able to look at your child's mouth and make sure everything looks healthy. Your baby may also get X-rays, because that way, both you and the dentist can get a look at your child's teeth and gums, as well as the other structures in their mouth. You'll also be able to ask the dentist questions about your child's oral health and nutritional concerns.

My Child Is Older. Should I Make An Appointment?

It is never too late to take your child for their first visit to the dentist. Dental practitioners are always happy to see a child for their first visit because they are beginning a great path toward good dental health. If your child has regular dental care, their teeth should be in excellent condition. Starting your child early with dental visits helps to give them great smiles for life.
